2018 Senior Registration and Fee Structure

By January 17, 2018Club, Mens, Womens

We are gearing up for another exciting hockey season at Waverley in 2018! Over the summer we have had a number of successful teams in indoor competitions and pre-season training is well underway.  We have also had a lot of Waverley members enjoying summer hockey at a variety of venues including our Wednesday night intra-club competition.

To play hockey for Waverley during the winter season in 2018, all players are required to:

  • Register online with Hockey Victoria.
  • Pay 2018 Waverley Hockey Club fees strictly before Round 4. Failure to pay by Round 4 may result in an inability to be selected to play.

Details regarding the fee structure for 2018 and how to register are outlined below.

2018 Fee Structure

The following considerations were taken into account when reviewing the fee structure men’s and women’s units for the 2018 season:

  • The current financial position of the club
  • The impact of a Volunteer Levy
  • Fees charged by other comparable clubs
  • Impact on members, including students
  • Impact of expenses such as team fees, umpiring costs and coaching costs
  • The Hockey Victoria individual player membership structure

Due the large increase in Hockey Victoria individual membership fees ($65 to $90 for seniors and $50 to $65), the club has decided not to increase fees for the 2018 season.

The table below outlines the comparison of 2017 to 2018 rates:

Year Senior Fee PL & PLR Student Fee PL & PLR Senior Fee Pennant & Metro Student Fee Pennant & Metro Veterans/ Masters Fee Junior Playing Seniors Fee GK
2017 Fee including volunteer levy $695 $590 $595 $460 $425 $200 $210
2018 Fee including volunteer levy $695 $590 $595 $460 $425 $200 $210
2018 Fee – including early bird discount $685 $580 $585 $450 $415 $190 $200

As outlined in the above table, taking advantage of the early bird discount will result in no increase in fees in most cases. In addition, satisfaction of the volunteer levy will result in $50 reduction in the above fees (excluding multi comp fees).

Volunteer Levy

As in 2017, a volunteer levy will be in place to provide an incentive for players to assist in volunteer opportunities at the club. The volunteer levy will work by way of a points system. If you achieve 50 points over the season you will get a refund of the levy to the value of $50. Each piece of volunteer work will be worth a certain number of points. Further details of volunteer opportunities and the operation of the levy can be found on the website:

http://waverleyhc.org.au/volunteer-levy-policy/

Early Bird Discount

The club will continue to offer an Early Bird discount in the 2018 year. The discount available from fees being paid in full on or before 28 February 2018 is $10 off the 2018 Fee.

Coaching Discount

The discount available for coaching a junior team remains the same as previous years, that is 65% for coaches and 35% for assistant coaches. To enquire about coaching a junior team, please email juniors@waverleyhc.org.au or contact a junior committee member.

Player Sponsorship

All players have the opportunity to further reduce their fees through a player sponsorship. Further details in regards to player sponsorship can be found via the link below.

http://waverleyhc.org.au/sponsors/player-sponsorship-info/

There is an opportunity for all Premier League and Premier League Reserves players to attract a player sponsor in 2018 which will reduce the fees paid. This assists the club to offset the higher costs of these teams due to more games and increased costs.

In addition, further opportunities to reduce fees can be made by organising fundraising activities for the club or being involved in attracting club sponsors. If you have any ideas on how to raise money for the club or would like to be involved in attracting new sponsors for the club please contact Elliot Kitchingman at treasurer@waverleyhc.org.au or another committee member.

State Representative Discount

The fee relief available for state representatives remains the same as last year, that is:

State Representative Level Discount
Vikings/ Vipers Full discount
Under 21 – Victoria 50% discount
Under 18 – Victoria 50% discount

It is expected that each State Representative player will assist the club in various volunteer roles where required throughout the year, for example assisting in Junior Coaching Clinics and Hookin2Hockey sessions.
