The last month has seen the future of the club go through their paces as part of Hockey Australia’s Hook in 2 Hockey program.
Each Saturday morning the keen cubs have been rolling up ready and raring to go in the beautiful summer weather. Initially the program kicked off with a “Come’n’Try” day which gave those keen to try out hockey the opportunity to get their hands dirty under the guidance of our Men’s Premier League squad. Lots of fun was had and the kids left smiling and excited for the year ahead. From there the program ‘officially’ started with the kids being introduced with the basics of the game in a fun and encouraging environment.
Pushing, trapping, dribbling, dragging and slapping the ball are skills the kids have been learning and even in this short period of time the improvement has been amazing!
Along the way we’ve had “Bring a Friend Day” giving the boys and girls the opportunity to introduce their family and friends to our great game and most importantly have a lot of fun along the way.
As we go into our break for Easter we’d like to take the opportunity to thank the U16 Girls and Boys along with the mums and dads who’ve volunteered their time to help out with the kids making the experience enjoyable and productive fro the kids.
Reminder to all parents that there is no Hook in 2 Hockey Easter weekend but we’ll be back to continue on the following week.
If you have anyone interested in joining the Hook in 2 Hockey program please feel free to get them to come down on a Saturday morning at 8am to the club or email me on: firstname.lastname@example.org and we’ll get them sorted.
