Player COVID-19 Training Guidelines

The following guidelines apply to ALL PLAYERS participating in training sessions at Waverley Hockey Club.

Before training

  • Feeling Unwell – stay home and arrange an alternative coach for your training group. If you or a member of your family or close contact is waiting for the results of a COVID test do not attend training until results are confirmed as negative
  • Shower before training – shower at home and put on clean clothing immediately before attending WHC
  • Dress fully – change facilities are out of bounds, dress into your full training kit and bring an alternative coloured top as bibs are not allowed
  • Drink bottle – prepare your own drink bottle and apply a named label
  • Toilets – prepare prior to training and use of the toilets at the club is discouraged
  • Do not use public transport – wherever possible use private transport to get to WHC
  • Know your group – you will be assigned to group A or B – remember this allocation

Arrival at the club

  • Don’t arrive early – wait in your car until all players from the previous session have exited
  • No bags (goalkeepers excluded) – put on your shoes and shin pads in your car. Leave the car with only your stick, mouthguard, labeled drink bottle, mobile phone, keys and any medicines in a small bag
  • No socialising – do not warm-up or socialise in the car park or soccer areas
  • Parents – junior parents must remain in their cars for the duration of the training session.

Entering the club

Whilst maintaining a 1.5 separation from other players and officials, approach the entry knowing your assigned grouping and:

  1. Proceed to GROUP A or GROUP B entry lane depending on your assignment
  2. Approach the check-in bollard and use your phone’s camera to scan the QR code
  3. Follow the on-screen instructions and complete your check-in
    Note parents may complete this for junior players without a mobile phone and then the parent return to their car.
  4. Proceed to the gate and show the Gate Supervisor the on-screen success page following check-in
  5. Proceed through the gate to the sanitisation station and apply sanitiser to your hands
  6. Proceed directly onto the pitch following the markers/guides maintaining a 1.5 distance from any other player
  7. Place your small bag containing your mobile phone and keys down in the marked bag drop area.

During training

During the training session please adhere to the following:

  • Remain 1.5 apart from any other player at all times
  • No more than 20 players are permitted in each half of the ground
  • Do not leave your half of the ground, warming up in their half and not entering the other half at any time to retrieve any balls
  • Do no share ANY equipment. Do not touch balls with your hands and bibs are not allowed
  • The club and change rooms are off-limits with the exception of the Waverley change room toilet in case of emergency
  • Contact training – allowed only for players 18 years and under participating in junior training from 22nd June.

Concluding training

Time is of the essence, all players and officials must fully exit the ground before the next session can commence entry. Therefore, whilst maintaining a 1.5 separation from other players and officials must:

  1. Collect your bag/equipment – leave your protective equipment on until you get to your car [goal keepers excluded]
  2. Proceed to the GROUP A or GROUP B exit lane [same as entry]
  3. Sanitise your hands at the station
  4. Go directly to your car and leave the clubs grounds, do not hang around or socialise
  5. Shower as soon as you arrive home and put on clean clothes

Player / coaches joining both a junior and a senior training session

Ensure junior players between sessions move up to the change rooms to:

  1. Change clothes
  2. Thoroughly sanitise hands
  3. Disinfect their hockey stick, glove and face masked (if used) for field players and all kickers, gloves and other equipment that has come into contact with balls and players for goal keepers

Dettol wipes and hand sanitiser will be supplied in each change room
