A big congratulations to our Under 12 Mixed Shield team for taking out the Grand Final win on Saturday morning. They put on a dominant display against Essendon Hockey Club, eventually running out victors with a 4-2 win. There were some tense moments, despite Waverley dominating attack, Essendon took first blood, scoring deep into the first half. The Panthers responded and scores were locked at 1 all at the half-time break. Co-coaches Andrew Shelton and Travis Brooks kept the group on track with their half-time speeches and the boys came out firing in the second half. Three unanswered goals had them on top 4-1. Essendon scored a consolation goal in the dying moments but it was a day for the Panthers. The whole group played an excellent team game, with special mention to Seb, scoring a hat-trick in a winning Grand Final.
