Join us for the White Ribbon Round Project

Help raise funds to achieve a future that’s free of violence against women and girls.

Waverley Hockey Club is partnering with White Ribbon Australia to help raise funds for initiatives to stop violence and abuse of women in our community.

WHEN: Saturday July 21, Round 13, 11am – 6pm
WHERE: Waverley Hockey Club, Ashwood Reserve, Cnr Winbirra Pde and High Street Rd, Ashwood
WHO: Waverley H.C. versus Yarra Valley H.C.
WHAT: Family day event including gold coin entry to junior and Premier League matches, BBQ lunch, cake stall, special guest appearances and raffles with great prizes.
WHY: To help raise awareness of White Ribbon Australia’s work to end men’s violence against women. All funds raised will support primary prevention initiatives in schools, workplaces and the broader community.

Roger Andrews, Waverley H.C. president said the event aims to help break the silence, raise awareness of the issue as well as funds to support work to bring violence against women to an end.

“We want our members and the community to know that violence against women is unacceptable, it is never the victim’s fault. And, help is always available,” he said.

“If you see something you should definitely say something. People need to know that they can make a difference; but it takes a whole community approach.”

In January this year, Waverley H.C. also introduced the #RESPECT campaign at the club and across social media channels, which focuses on the importance of mutual respect for all club members – no matter what age, gender, ethnicity or ability.

Diana Hansen, Waverley H.C. women’s president added: “The club is a place for the whole community to come as players or spectators of our great sport, but also somewhere both men and women can feel safe and find support if it’s needed.”
