Your time and efforts spent umpiring are much appreciated – games cannot go ahead without umpires, so your involvement plays a critical role in our Club’s success! If you have not yet done so, fill out the online form on Survey Monkey and one of the club’s Umpire Coordinators will be in contact with further details.

Level 0 Community Umpire
Becoming a Community Umpire is a four-step process. Once completed, accreditation is valid for four years. There are no prerequisites for the Community Umpire accreditation.
- Create a free HockeyEd account
- Enroll in the Community Umpire Course
- Complete the Community Umpire Online Quiz – Approx. 40 minutes
- Undertake practical assessment
Level 1 Umpire
Becoming a Level 1 Umpire is a six-step process. Once completed accreditation is valid for four years. There are no prerequisites for the Level 1 Umpire accreditation.
- Create a free HockeyEd account
- Enroll in the Level 1 Umpire Course – $40 for four year registration
- Complete the HockeyEd Online Quiz
- Complete the free Australia Sport Commission (ASC) Play by the Rules Child Protection Online Training
- Create an ASC account
- Register for the online training through “Browse Learning” link and complete the modules
- Email HV a copy of the completion certificate – Subject line: Surname, First name – Level 1 Umpire ASC
- Attend a Level 1 Umpire Workshop – Approx. 3.5 hours
- Undertake practical assessment
Benefits of Umpiring
- Learn more about hockey / Enjoy at a different level – Umpiring can be a great way to get even more from your love (new or old) of hockey!
- Earn an income in your teens (or any age!) – Level 0 Community Umpires receive a minimum of $15 per match
- Make it easier to become a Level 1 Umpire – Level 1 Umpires receive $25 or $30 per match (depending on level)
- Keep fit and active – As an umpire, you run as much as the players do to keep up with the action. Whatever your age, umpiring will improve or maintain your fitness in an enjoyable atmosphere
