Our slippery worn blue hockey pitch surface is no more! With our pitch replacement project well underway it’s time to share the bad news with all of our supporters and playing members.
Bad news you ask? How could a brand-new pitch made of the latest technology be bad news? The cost is the bad news part of this story and we need your help!
Unfortunately, the shock pad condition was far worse than expected and we are now facing a larger cost for these works than initially forecast. The project is being jointly funded with the Monash City Council contributing 50% to the surface replacement, however Waverley HC must cover 100% of the shock pad costs, increasing our overall costs significantly from an expected total of <$200k to ~$300k. This will be partially funded via a loan with Bendigo Bank, but we will need to raise funds to cover the rest if the project (and noting a loan is not ideal for the Club as we will be funding this for many more years to come).
Any members or supporters who can contribute to our Facilities Fund to assist us with this expenditure, your support would be greatly appreciated. All donations are tax deductible and if you, your extended family or your team band together and donate, you will not only ensure the club can pay for our new pitch, but you can also be recognised as a WHC Donor (donations can be anonymous if you prefer).
Donation levels that will be acknowledged on the WHC Donor Board are:
Bronze Panther donor ($1k +)
Silver Panther donor ($2.5k+)
Gold Panther donor ($5k +)
Platinum Panther donor ($10k +)
Family groups and playing teams (current or past) are welcome to get together and submit a joint donation to achieve one of these donor levels. If you require us to consolidate multiple donations for you, please email a complete list of the individuals contributing to your joint donation and their amount to 2023pitchreplacement@waverleyhc.org.au .
Donations are tax deductible via the Australian Sports Foundation and can be made here: https://asf.org.au/projects/waverley-hockey-club
