Men’s Health was the motto of last weekend, as our Junior Shield and Senior PL/PLR teams came together to play for Movember. Former AFL player and Mental Health Ambassador, Heath Black, kicked off our celebrations during the week with our Men’s Premier League and Reserve Squads having the honour of being part of Heath’s workshop.
Friday night matches saw big crowds at Hedley Hull Field, as both u16 Shield teams came away with a win. On Saturday, our Men’s and Women’s top squads battled it out against Doncaster in perfect hockey conditions, with 3 out of 4 teams coming away with a win.
Our off the field activities relating to Men’s Health were equally as successful. Over $500 were raised for Movember via cupcake, lolly and raffle sales, and members as well as spectators had the opportunity to educate themselves by taking note of our many free flyers. With Men’s Mental Health being the primary focus for this year’s Round, it is important to note that support networks are available for anyone who may be struggling. If you didn’t already know, 1 in 2 men will experience a mental health disorder in their life, so chances are high that a man in your life may be affected. Check in with them, and keep each other safe!
Thank you to all who supported us over the weekend!
