Waverley has focus on providing all junior players new to hockey the best opportunity to learn about the game and develop their skills for future participation in formal competition. Our aim is to provide a fun, engaging and safe environment to start their hockey journey, with a number of options available to suit all levels of experience.

Waverley Hockey Club provides three programs to support our under 10 participants to teach hockey, develop skills and ready player for future participation in competition hockey.
Hookin2Hockey provides an entry level program for children aged 5+ to learn the basic skills of hockey, have fun, and make friends while beginning their lifelong love of hockey. The program structure is guided through Hockey Australia and developed to help participants step through their hockey journey. It is recommended all children begin with a program of Hookin2Hockey to grasp the basics of the game. Participants will either move to the U10 programs or to an appropriate U12-U16 competition team.

Small field intra-club completion and skills development, next step after Hookin2Hockey program for children 6 years and older.
This program is a half field competition managed by Hockey Victoria with games generally played between 3 to 4 local clubs. Two 8-week competitions are run in terms 2 and 3. This competition is perfect for children 8 years and older that have Stick2Hockey intra-club experience.
Older new players can also join Hookin2Hockey or they can try joining a training session with an under 12, 14 or 16 competition team. All teams are graded and lower grade teams are suitable for someone trying out hockey or with limited hockey experience.
Waverley Hockey Club welcomes all new players.
The Waverley Preseason Academy provides skill development with coaching provided by senior players with previous Premier League experience. The Academy runs from late January to end February annually.
Waverley Hockey Club fields junior teams in all Hockey Victoria competitions from under 10 Half Field to under 16 age groups, including teams in Shield ‘A’, Pennant and District grades. For more information refer to:
